Solutions to HyperX Cloud 2 Mic Not Working

The problem with the microphone might not always lie in the headset. In some cases, it might have something to do with a software problem with your computer. So, make sure that you have not muted it first. If that is not the case, you can take the following steps right away:

  • Ensure a Proper Connection

Using the USB port or audio jack, you can connect your HyperX Cloud 2 with your PC. In either case, you must make sure that you have connected it properly. The USB switcher on the headset features a mute button. So, you must make sure whether you have activated it by mistake.

Does the headset fail to function while connected to the USB port? In that case, you must connect it to your PC through the audio jack. This can provide you with a solution in many cases. But, what if this does not work? Then, there are some more tricks to try out.

  • Run the Audio Troubleshooter

Are you unable to figure out the cause behind the HyperX Cloud 2 mic not working? Then, you can simply use the Troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the problem. This is one of the easiest ways to fix the microphone issue. You simply need to go to the System section in your Settings to do this. Then, open the Sound options and click on Troubleshoot. This will start a scan to find the cause of the microphone problem.

Once it identifies the problem, the Troubleshooter will start repairing it right away. However, you might have to apply a solution manually in certain cases. The Troubleshooter will let you know what you need to do in such situations.

  • Increase the Microphone Volume in the Settings

You might often reduce the microphone’s volume in the Settings by mistake. So, you must check whether that causes the HyperX Cloud 2 mic not working malfunction. And, for that, you need to go to the Settings menu on your PC, and open the Sound settings given under the System section.

You will find the option to test your mic under Device Properties. And, you can increase the volume of the microphone from this option. Make sure your voice is audible, and then close the Settings.

Are you unable to fix the problem by this method? Then, you might consider whether interference from Bluetooth devices is causing this issue.

  • Disconnect Other Bluetooth Devices from Your PC

Are you using a wireless connection with your headset? In that case, you might want to avoid connecting other Bluetooth devices to your PC. Otherwise, that might often result in the HyperX Cloud 2 mic not working. As it happens, other Bluetooth devices might cause interference between your PC and headset.

So, open your Bluetooth settings and remove all other devices, except the HyperX Cloud 2. Then, check whether the mic problem persists. You must consider connecting the headset to your computer through the audio jack if it does. And, that should provide an effective solution for at least a while.

  • Update the Audio Drivers

Your headset might require you to have a certain drive version on your PC. Otherwise, your headset’s microphone might not work. So, you must update any audio drivers to get an effective and long-term solution. And, for that, you need to open the Device Manager and expand the list of audio drivers. You will find them under the sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click the audio driver and opt for updating it. Once you are done, check whether the HyperX Cloud 2 mic not working problem remains. If you keep facing this issue after the driver update, the problem lies somewhere else.

  • Configure the Sound Settings

The problem you are facing with the microphone might also occur due to the sound settings. In such cases, you have to make the necessary adjustments to them to get an effective solution. You might have disabled the HyperX Cloud 2 or removed it from the default device. So, you must either set it as default or simply enable it on your PC.

Open the Control Panel and open the Category option at the top right. Then, open the large icons and open the Sound options there. After that, you must go to the Recording tab and look for your headset. If you find it disabled, right-click it and opt for enabling it.

After that, you must also select it as the default recording device. And, that should resolve the HyperX Cloud 2 mic not working.

  • Grant App Permissions

Are you facing a microphone problem while using a certain app? In that case, you must make sure you have permitted it to access the mic. And, for that, you need to open the app settings and opt for viewing its permissions. Then, ensure that you have let it access your HyperX Cloud 2 mic.

This should fix the issue if you face it while using individual apps. But, this would not work if the problem had something to do with the operating system.

Finally, Reinstall or Reset the System

Usually, you should get a solution by following the aforementioned steps. But, if all of them fail, then you must restore an older system image. This would help you get rid of any corrupt system files. As an alternative, you can also reinstall your Windows system for the same.
